Once, a hundred years ago, here was the fulcrum of active bourgeois life, integral for one of the richest and most influential cities of the world. The apartment is located in downtown Vienna, in an archaic building, fully reconstructed inside, with the façade preserved to honour the historic heritage of the street, Gatterburggasse. In this way, the happy owners of the elite real estate in the very heart of Vienna have got access to today’s important privileges: a convenient apartment layout, a private terrace and a cosy courtyard, underground parking and additional storage space, etc.

At the same time, the house and the street have maintained their connection with the 19th-century aesthetics and charm. Our client, a doctor, engaged in daily treatment of patients with serious diseases, wished to create for herself a special apartment, a perfect retreat from the intense life of the big city. So, when the client entrusted our studio with the project of this apartment, the image of the future space was informed by the concept of the house as the place of strength, calmness and respect to refined traditions. The resulting eclectic interior harmoniously combines modern design and the elements of romantic Biedermeier.
